Omega-3 acids

Omega-3 is a family of essential fatty acids that play an important role in your body and can provide many health benefits. Since your body cannot produce them itself, you need to get them from your diet. The three most important species are ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). ALA is mainly found in plants, while DHA and EPA are most commonly found in animal foods and algae.

Simple food that is plentiful omega-3 fatty acids include oily fish, fish oil, flax seeds, chia seeds, flaxseed oil and walnuts. It is often recommended for people who do not eat much of this food omega-3 supplementssuch as fish oil or krill oil.
